In the academic year 2024/25, our school took part in the S.M.I.L.E-ing Boys project—an innovative, London-based intervention designed to support the mental health, identity development, and emotional wellbeing of Black boys and this year they worked with 14 of our year 10's. Through a creative arts approach that blends photography, personal storytelling, and therapeutic workshops, the programme provided a safe space for participants to explore their experiences, express themselves, and build confidence.

The impact has been significant: students reported feeling more seen, heard, and valued, with notable improvements in self-esteem, school engagement, and their ability to manage emotions.

This initiative aligns closely with our commitment to equity, inclusion, personal development and our chritoian ethos and we are exploring opportunities to embed its principles more widely across the school community.
