On Wednesday 28 January, we were delighted to host an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) event at St Mary Magdalene Church of England Secondary School. We welcomed students from our three primary schools — St Mary Magdalene Peninsula, St Mary Magdalene Woolwich, and Christ Church , as well as Year 5 classes from the other AGAS schools: St Margaret’s, Bishop John Robinson, and St Alfege. Parents and carers were also invited to join us for this special occasion.
The event began with students from each primary school setting up displays in the secondary main hall, showcasing work based on the theme of belonging. Students, parents, and staff had the opportunity to view these thoughtful and creative displays. At the same time, a range of activities took place in the chapel, organised by Reverend Dominic and led by our wonderful Sixth Form Student Team.
After enjoying refreshments and exploring the displays, students and parents were escorted to the sports hall by the Sixth Form team. The event continued with a beautiful performance from the secondary school choir, followed by performances from each primary school, all sharing their own interpretations of the theme of belonging. These performances were inspiring, and the confidence and teamwork shown by the students was a joy to see.
Following the performances, we were fortunate to hear from our guest speakers, Canon Roxy and Adeola Oladejoh from the Diocese, who shared thoughtful reflections and led us in prayer before bringing the event to a close.
We received a great deal of positive feedback from parents and visitors, who praised the high quality of the performances and the exceptional support provided by the Sixth Form Prefect Team throughout the event. It was a truly memorable celebration of community, inclusion, and belonging.
